Indian Technology Congress Association (ITCA) is a dedicated Association for Technologists focused on facilitating collaboration between Professionals from the industry, R&D Laboratories, and Academic Institutions.

Building on the success of the previous editions of the well-received Indian Technology Congress, ITCA is organizing the 'Karnataka Smart Village Hackathon' during 08-09 March 2018 at the New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru. This event is conceptualized by the AgriTech Advisory Board (AAB), an ITCA initiative to progress technology-centric projects and programmes for Indian agriculture to enhance productivity, and identify pathways for integration of Indian agriculture with the global milieu.

This hackathon provides an ideal environment for innovation and entrepreneurship amongst the student fraternity from engineering and related streams to develop working prototypes addressing societal challenges. The uniqueness of this hackathon is that it fosters a culture of interdisciplinary approach to discover and explore possibilities of using state-of-the-art tools, technologies, and products from IBM and its partners to develop working prototypes, hacks, and innovation that have potential for commercialization.

Adjunct to this hackathon, a Conference titled 'Increasing Sustainability of Indian Agro-Ecosystem for Equitable Rural Development' is being organized with focused sessions on Sensors, Food, Automation, and Engineering. This Conference will facilitate Government and policy-makers; scientists, engineers, and technologists; academicians; and non-governmental organizations share thoughts and perspectives on how technologies can help promote agricultural productivity and food security at a national level; increase household income and assets; promote human and social empowerment.

It is proposed to release the publication 'Compendium of Smart Village Technologies' that showcases contemporary and futuristic technologies, products and solutions that are centred around villages, and on deployment would transform independent standalone villages into Smart Villages, integrated into the national mainstream and polity for uniform and sustainable progress.

IEEE's Councils and Societies, Government of Karnataka and other organizations focused on technology-led rural development have been approached to depute Mentors and Speakers to address the Delegates.

Industries focused on agriculture, and technology-led rural development are invited to participate in this two-day technology event, and share their perspectives on promoting and propagating grass-root innovation for national transformation. Participation opportunities include thought leadership speaking slots, product exhibition, souvenir advertisement, and sponsorship. Over 800 delegates from the Government and its organizations, scientists, engineers, and technologists are expected to participate in this two-day event.

We take pleasure in inviting you to the 'Karnataka Smart Village Hackathon', and look forward to discussing technology-led societal interventions.
