The costs of depression treatment paid by Medicare increased from $0.52 billion in 1997 to $2.25 billion in 2007. 10% children and adolescents have mental and emotional disorders which disrupt their day-to-day lives. 60% adults didn't receive mental health treatment in 2012. 6,100,000 number of individuals in the U.S. who suffer from some form of bipolar disorder. About one in 10 Americans aged 12 and over takes antidepressant medication. In 2008, 13.4% of adults in the United States received treatment for a mental health problem.
