The process of rehabilitation is designed to assist brain injury survivors in regaining their highest level of function back. However, because no two brain injuries are exactly alike, the rehabilitation process and recovery time will differ for each patient. Prior to beginning treatment and throughout the process, a number of factors must be considered including culture, religious affiliation, social and economic background of patients. Consequences of TBI are rarely limited to one set of symptoms rather; they affect many facets of a person's life, including neurological and psychological impairments, medical problems and disabilities, and relationships with family, friends, and community. All of these factors demonstrate the need for a multidisciplinary approach to treating brain injury patients.

Although predicting the degree of TBI recovery remains difficult, scientific knowledge of the brain and its functions continues to improve leading to new treatment methods and rehabilitation strategies. The goal of the Brain Injury Conference is to bring the latest in innovative research and treatment options for brain injury rehabilitation to the multidisciplinary team of caregivers with a strong focus on quality throughout the care continuum.
